About Miss Lampa

What else aside from my fascination with the sun, you ask?

I live and breathe nerdiness, seriously. I get a kick out of writing and editing bibliographical entries, and I’d take curling up in bed with a good book over going to the beach any day. Unless Rodrigo Santoro is coming. Or James Marsden. These days, I can’t be too choosy.

I can’t get enough of that soothing sound produced by the pitter-patter of rain. And waves too, but way more souls have been enchanted by that already so I’m sticking to raindrops for now.

I find men who speak English well very sexy. Of course, if they’re babbling about video games and basketball shoes half of the time, that’s an entirely different story.

My only vices are coffee and lack of sleep. And oh, there’s also cheesecake and ice cream and HouseUgly Betty, The Big Bang Theory, and the fact that I don’t exercise enough. Oh well.

I like making fun of myself, and I usually do – even when there’s someone dashing and all that and I’m out to impress him. Psych says it’s a way to overcompensate, but I really just think it’s the best way to entertain without getting on anyone’s bad side. Plus, he just might find it cute and ask for my number, you never know.

I love animation movies. I’m almost always assured of happy endings. And on a related note, I love indie films as well; it’s the only film genre wherein I can’t be assured of anything.

If I’ll be allowed to write and teach for the rest of my life, I’m sure I’ll die happy and fulfilled.

I believe in a magnificent God, and I try my best to bear witness to that faith. I’d like to believe He gives me the grace to succeed most of the time.

I like saying and hearing “thank you.” It is my humble opinion that we can never be too grateful.

And oh, I’m admittedly SPF-crazy. My lotion, moisturizer, lip balm and face powder have SPF levels which, when added up, will amount to at least 100. And just for good measure, even my umbrella blocks UV rays. Which shouldn’t really surprise you anymore since you already know that I plan to soak up some sun for as long as the great, grand cosmos will let me!

  1. The last paragraph reminds me of a conversation with a learner. He works for a big dairy company, and he says all their milk is the same, except for the branding. “What’s special about the most expensive brand?” I asked. He thought it over and said, “One thing. We put Vitamin D in it.” Then I had to ask, “Where do you get the Vitamin D? I’ve been told it’s not easy to get it in your diet.” He thought it over again, and said, “The truth is, I can’t tell you. I don’t know.” Then silence. “What I can tell you,” he said, “is that we don’t put the sun in the milk.”

    • Well, it’s a good thing we can’t put the sun in the milk, no? Otherwise, they won’t have any reason to fly all the way to the Philippines just to get a nice tan and swim in our beaches.

  2. Why choose between a good book and the beach when you can have a good book on the beach? When I lived in FL I used to go to the abandoned part of the beach with a book to enjoy both. The beach around here is a little further away but I should probably do that at least a time or two before we move to Germany.

And I’m sure your skin will thank you for the SPF indulgence ;-)

    • Hahahahaha! You’re right, Amanda! And I’m sure the beach is big enough for me, a good read, and a hot dude by my side to slather sunscreen on my back. Yes, we can have it all! =D

  3. I’ve nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award: http://wp.me/p1RjNH-BM
